New Delhi:
Upset with the Chhattisgarh government for not vacating the schools where paramilitary forces are housed, the Supreme Court has pulled up the state and directed that paramilitary forces to vacate the schools immediately.
The Supreme Court said, "You have no business to occupy schools... we recorded your statement, it turns out to be incorrect now... why we should not initiate suo motto contempt? We will accept anything but not misleading the court... our order is enough to show you have made false statement."
The Supreme Court had earlier ordered Chhattisgarh government to vacate forces from the schools and the state government had assured the Court it would do so. However, in its fresh affidavit the state said forces were vacated only from six schools.
Replying to the Courts observations, the state government told the court it needs some time to vacate the forces.
Supreme Court is also hearing petitions on atrocities by Salva Judum.
On the allegations of atrocities by paramilitary forces Supreme Court said, "There is no serious thinking before sending forces. Most of the times it is the problem not the solution."
However, the Centre told Court the job of the forces are difficult and it has announced a Rs 25 crore package for integrated development of these Naxal regions.
The Centre also told Court it does not approve Chhattisgarh government's decision to house forces in schools.
The Supreme Court will take up the case on 18 January for hearing.
