New Delhi:
The Supreme Court today rejected film producer Shakeel Noorani's plea for cancellation of Sanjay Dutt's bail in the 1993 Mumbai serial blast case. Noorani, who is involved in a financial dispute with the actor, had approached the apex court alleging that he is being threatened by the underworld on actor Sanjay Dutt's behest.
Dismissing his petition, the apex court said,"You can't use this court to solve your problems with the actor. In a criminal matter, how can a financier make a petition? You file an FIR. We are dismissing your petition"
Advocate Sanjay Hegde, appearing for the producer, pleaded that the Bench hear his petition and pointed out that Noorani has already filed an FIR but nothing is being done
about it.
"My life is being threatened by the underworld and I have already filed an FIR in the case," Hedge said on behalf of his client.
Noorani, had earlier sought the Bombay High Court's direction to seal two properties belonging to Sanjay Dutt. The producer had filed the suit before the High Court after the actor refused to complete a film launched by Noorani in 2001.
