New Delhi:
Film director Prakash Jha's new film
Chakravyuh will release with a song whose lyrics refer to Birla, Tata and Bata.
The Supreme Court ruled in Mr Jha's favour today. The companies had taken him to court over the song titled "
Mehengai" (inflation) which names these firms and suggests they have made huge gains at the public's expense.
Earlier this week, the Delhi High Court allowed the release of the song saying that in the contextual setting of the movie the "song is not defamatory".
Mr Jha, who has directed the film, challenged the single-judge order before a division bench of the court. The division bench of Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Manmohan Singh said: "We are inclined to stay the operation of the impugned order."
The film stars Manoj, Bajpayee, Abhay Deol, Arjun Rampal and Esha Gupta and is scheduled to release on October 24
