New Delhi: The Supreme Court today sought response from the Uttar Pradesh government on PIL seeking a CBI probe into the Banda rape case incident.
The court issued notices to UP Home Secretary, SP Banda district and Banda jail superintendent.
The petitioner wanted a CBI probe into the incident because they claim the victim is a minor.
They want action against police officials and the magistrate for keeping a minor in jail against the norms.
Meanwhile, a local court extended the judicial remand of BSP MLA Purshottam Naresh Dwivedi and three others, accused of raping the dalit girl, by 14 days.
The Dalit girl was allegedly raped on December 10-11 at the residence of 48-year-old Dwivedi, who represents Naraini seat in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. She escaped from the MLA's house on December 12 when the MLA allegedly attempted rape for the third time and was arrested same day on theft charges.
