Supreme Court to examine illegal mining in Aravali

New Delhi: Illegal mining in the Aravali hills will be under the scanner in the Supreme Court on Thursday as the court will examine both demands by Haryana and Rajasthan to allow mining for construction stone and concerns by environmentalists over flouting mining bans.

NDTV had also carried out an expose showing how in neighbouring Rajasthan miners were brazenly violating the ban on mining by allegedly paying off the police and government officers.

The Rajasthan CM had after the report ordered a massive crackdown against miners, though it remains to be seen just what action is taken on the ground.
