New Delhi:
It is a crucial day for mining in Haryana and construction activities in the capital, as the Supreme court will examine allegations of illegal mining as well as violations of environmental laws by miners today.
As per an order of the Punjab and Haryana high court, mining activities in the state came to a stop on February 28 as a majority of miners had not prepared an Environment Management Plan or EMPs to reduce the impact on the ecology.
Conservationists allege that mining officers in the state have deliberately looked the other way to allow for illegal mining, the profits of which run into several crores every day.
