New Delhi: The bail plea of DMK Rajya Sabha MP and party chief M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi comes up in the Supreme Court today.

Kanimozhi, named as a co-accused along with DMK's A Raja, in India's largest-ever swindle, the 2G scam, has been in Tihar Jail since May 20 when she was arrested by the CBI.

Her arrest in connection with the 2G scam has led to bitterness between alliance partners Congress and the DMK. However, Karunanidhi put all the rumours to rest that their friendship  with the Congress may come to an end. At a party meeting, the DMK chief said his party will continue its alliance with the Congress.

The spectrum scam also led to DMK's drubbing in the Assembly elections last month; the Congress mouthpiece too blaming it for the poll loss.

Apart from Kanimozhi, the Supreme Court will also hear the bail plea of Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar.

Kanimozhi has been accused of accepting a Rs 214-crore bribe along with A Raja via Kalaignar TV. She holds a 20 per cent stake in Kalaignar TV.

Kanimozhi's lawyer had applied for bail in the High Court on the grounds that she needs to look after her young son, since her husband travels abroad frequently for work.
