New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said the Supreme Court has upheld the values of the Indian democracy and the Constitution by directing restoration of the ousted Nabam Tuki government in Arunachal Pradesh.
"The decision (of the Supreme Court) has upheld the values of the Indian democracy and the constitution," Mr Rawat said, adding that the ruling "will boost the federal structure".
"A lot of debate has happened on Article 356," he said.
"If we have a barrier to check the interference of the Centre, then such crisis will not repeat in the future," said the Uttarakhand chief minister, whose government too was reinstated in May in a similar ruling by the Supreme Court.
Mr Rawat's comments followed the Supreme Court ruling to restore the ousted Nabam Tuki government as it quashed the decision of Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa advancing the state Assembly session from January 2016 to December 2015.
