New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was admitted to Delhi's AIIMS hospital on Monday after she complained of chest congestion.
Doctors at AIIMS or the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences say her condition is stable. "She is under treatment for fever, chest congestion with features of pneumonia. A medical team of specialists is looking after her," the hospital said in a statement today.
Ms Swaraj, 64, was assessed by a team of multi-specialists.
She was first admitted to the Pulmonary Medicine Department and then shifted to the Cardio-Neuro Centre of the hospital.
Ms Swaraj has a history of acute diabetes. Doctors say she has been suffering from diabetes for almost 20 years.
Ms Swaraj is scheduled to meet Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aijaz Ahmed today.
She was also supposed to make a speech at the Heart of Asia conference on Afghanistan but minister of state VK Singh is expected to take her place.
