New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi mostly listened and other BJP lawmakers spoke their mind at a special roundtable at Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj's office last evening, described by sources as a different take on the PM's radio show "Mann Ki Baat".

This evening, it will be Home Minister Rajnath Singh's turn to meet MPs.

On Monday evening, PM Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and around 60 MPs gathered at the Jawahar Bhawan, the headquarters of the External Affairs Ministry in Delhi, for the "masterclass" with Ms Swaraj.

Sources say PM Modi and Mr Shah didn't speak but parliamentarians were asked to speak freely.

The prime minister, say sources, has urged MPs to express their thoughts - or Mann Ki Baat - in these sessions.

Most of the members spoke about government schemes and noted that while these are trickling down to those who need them the most, there is scope for improvement.

Ms Swaraj is among six senior ministers tasked by PM Modi to meet party MPs regularly to draw feedback about the government's work.

The ministers have been asked to share this feedback with PM Modi.

The idea reportedly germinated after MPs complained that they rarely get the chance to put their thoughts across to the leadership.

Other ministers scheduled to hold similar interactions are Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
