Suspected cannibal arrested in Rajasthan's Baran district

Kota, Rajasthan: A suspected cannibal serial killer was arrested from a forest of Baran district in Rajasthan in a joint operation by Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh police team, police said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off by local villagers, 35-year-old Karan Singh Bheel was arrested on Tuesday from a forest adjoining Kawai village in Baran district of Kota, Superintendent of Police (SP), Baran, Shivlal Joshi said on Wednesday.

The suspected cannibal, a member of Bheel community, is accused of murdering one Ghansilal Shariya (32) on Sunday night in Durjanpur village of Nahargarh area and escaping with a chopped leg from his body, Joshi said, adding they suspect that he consumed it.

Singh is also accused in two other murders in parts of Madhya Pradesh's Guna district.

Cases of murder have been registered against the accused in Baran district as well as in Guna district and investigation is on, Joshi said.

According to the police, the accused was reportedly dwelling like a beast in a cave in the forest near Kawai village where pieces of human skeleton and animals were recovered from his hideout.

The accused hails from Digdoli village of Fatahgarh Police Station in Madhya Pradesh and is reported to have killed his own mother seven year ago and since then he has been moving across the Rajasthan-MP border and committing the crimes, police said.
