Dhemaji (Assam):
An Afghan national, suspected to be an Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent, was apprehended on Monday by the police in Assam's Dhemaji district.
The Afghan, identified as Akhtar Hussain, had come to Dhemaji nine months ago on a three-month tourist visa but stayed on even after the expiry of the visa, Superintendent of Police Pradip Ranjan Kar said.
Hussain, during his stay here, also married a local woman and was living with her in a rented house in Gogamukh area of the district.
He was arrested from his rented home. According to police sources, probe is underway to know more about him.
