Suspected Jaish Terrorist Arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla

Abdul Rehman Khan is suspected to be a part of Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group

Srinagar: Police today said they have arrested a terrorist, suspected to be a member of Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group that was responsible for Pathankot attack in January, in north Kashmir's Baramulla town.

The suspected terrorist, who according to the police is part of Jaish's Fidayeen or suicide squad, has been identified as Abdul Rehman Khan, a resident of Poonch district in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.  

Police said besides one AK 47 rifle, 4 grenades and a wireless set, a fake Aadhaar card was also recovered from the possession of the alleged terrorist.

According to the police, Abdul Rehman Khan was trying to establish his base in the town and was arrested during a joint operation with the Army.

"He was operating in and around Baramulla town, trying to establish a module as Jaish-e-Mohammed is desperate to set up a base in Baramulla town" said a senior police officer in Baramulla.

The alleged terrorist, police said, was part of fidayeen squad that had infiltrated in January from Kupwara sector. Abdul Rehman Khan had received training in Pakistan's Balakote, police said.
