Bhagwant Mann should be suspended for a day for making a video on parliament, MPs recommended.
New Delhi:
Aam Aadmi Party lawmaker Bhagwant Mann should be suspended for a day for making a video on parliament that compromised its security, a group of MPs recommended today.
A nine-member committee arrived at the decision four months after Mr Mann filmed the parliament house and posted a 12-minute video on social media.
The video violated protocol, several lawmakers said in parliament.
Mr Mann was asked to stay out of parliament till the committee took a decision.
The lawmakers who examined the complaints against him reportedly decided on a day's punishment as they discussed that the AAP leader had been away from the Lok Sabha for a session and a half.
In July, the 42-year-old lawmaker, who is also a popular stand-up comedian, filmed his journey from home to parliament House, crossing layers of security. He live streamed it on Facebook, drawing criticism for endangering one of the country's most high security complexes.
Mr Mann vehemently denied the charge and explained that he wanted to show people in his constituency first-hand how parliament functions.
AAP has said that Mr Mann is being targeted because of the party's popularity in Punjab ahead of elections in the state.
