A video in which a sweeper of a Gujarat hospital can be seen giving stitches to patient has surfaced online. The video, which was filmed by the patient's relative, shows the sweeper of Bharuch Civil Hospital giving stitches on a man's head while nurses and doctors are present in the room.
Brijesh Solanki, a class 4 employee, was filmed giving stitches to a patient earlier as well and was let off after a warning.
Taking note of the video, the resident medical officer of the hospital has assured strict action in the matter. He said that it's a doctor's job to give stitches and a memo will be issued to the doctor who may have instructed him to do so.
"We are investigating the case and once it is complete, we will inform the higher authorities. Action will be taken accordingly," Resident Medical Officer SR Patel told ANI.
In July, an owner of a private hospital, who had reportedly studied till Class 8, was filmed operating on a patient in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli. The family members of the patient filed a case against the doctor and the hospital for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
