Swine flu patients under close monitoring

Coimbatore:

A 34-year-old woman and her five-year-old son, who are undergoing treatment at a government hospital, after they tested positive for swine flu, are being closely monitored by the doctors.

Though the detailed reports of H1N1 virus infection are yet to reach the hospital, doctors have started giving 'Tamiflu Capsule' to both of them, hospital sources said adding, the mother-son duo has been kept in a quarantine ward.

The doctors and other staff, who were attending on them are also taking necessary precautions, the sources said.

The patients are being monitored closely and the swab collected from them would be sent to Delhi daily, to examine their condition and to verify whether there were any side-effects due to the drug therapy, they said.

The teenaged daughter of the woman, who was also admitted to the hospital, though tested negative, is also being monitored closely, the sources added.

The mother and the son came to Coimbatore from United States on May 28.
