The Gehlots' youngest daughter, eight-year-old Damini had caught a cold. And her parents thus took her to hospital to rid themselves of their worst fear - that Damini may have got swine flu.
Sunil, a central government official had taken a day off from office to get Damini tested.
"When we saw news on TV yesterday, the symptoms that they were saying were the same that my daughter also had. So we got really worried after that," said Sunil Gehlot.
The Gehlots reached a designated government hospital to see they were not the only ones. The rush has picked up in the last few days.
"There were children as well as a lot of adults. Doctors were attending to them, but most of them were just given medicines, not many were tested," said Sunil.
No swine flu test was done on Damini. Doctors took a swab to test the type of flu. Then she was given some medicines and told to come back after two days if she did not feel better.
Damini hasn't gone to school for 5 days now. Her parents are taking no chances especially after the Pune swine flu death.
"She first caught cold 10 days back. We had been going through a private doctor. He had given medicines but it did not work. After Reeda's case we thought it is best to go to a government hospital now," said Rekha, Damini's mother.
For now the Gehlots are keeping their fingers crossed and till Damini goes through the test, she will stay home having limited interaction even with her two siblings.
