Swine flu spreads in Delhi, Pune schools

New Delhi/Pune: The number of confirmed swine flu cases in Delhi and Pune schools has gone up.  

Twelve school students in Delhi have tested positive. While Sriram School Aravali reported one case of swine flu, five students from St Thomas School tested positive and three from Sardar Patel school.

Springdales Pusa Road reported two flu cases, one student was confirmed with the disease at St Columbus school.

In Pune, Abhivana School at Karve has shut down for a week after 14 students tested positive.

A Central team will visit Pune hospitals and schools on Tuesday to assess the situation. And health officials will hold an awareness programme for parents and schools.


Doctor's advice

  • Classmates of infected students should stay at home for 10 days
  • If you've travelled with infected student, stay at home for 10 days
  • If you're ill, stay at home
  • Avoid contact with others if you're ill
  • Wash hands frequently
  • Wash hands before touching nose, eyes, mouth
  • Stay away from infected person
  • Get plenty of sleep
  • Avoid shaking hands, kissing, hugging socially
