Swine flu spreads: Two cases in UK
London:

As Swine flu spreads across the globe, authorities have confirmed Britain's first cases of swine flu. Tests have "conclusively" confirmed two cases of swine flu in Scotland.

The Scottish couple who were honeymooning in Cancun in Mexico, are the first confirmed cases of swine flu in Britain. However, it is not clear whether they have the same strain of the flu that has killed more than a 100 people in Mexico.

In a hospital in Scotland, some of the 22 suspected cases of flu in the UK are being investigated.

"I can confirm two cases in Scotland and both are recovering well. Threat to British public remains low," said Nicola Sturgeon, Scottish Health Secretary.

There is real concern here as is evident from the front pages of today's newspapers. The Foreign Office has issued a travel advisory warning against travelling to Mexico unless essential. Some airlines have cancelled flights to Mexico and are bringing back British holidaymakers. The British PM has held an emergency meeting and sought to reassure people that Britain is one of the best prepared to tackle this infection.
