Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah on Thursday called on Union Science and Technology Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh at Global Hospital in Chennai, said a hospital official.
"The Tamil Nadu governor visited the hospital and enquired about Deshmukh's health from our officials. Meanwhile, Deshmukh's condition is still critical and is under observation," the official told IANS on condition of anonymity.
According to a hospital official, 67-year-old Deshmukh is on life-support system.
Mr Deshmukh was brought to the hospital on Monday evening from Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai in an air ambulance.
From the Chennai airport, he was brought to Global Hospital. Mr Deshmukh's family members are with him.
Mr Deshmukh, who had been complaining of abdominal pain for a while, was taken to Breach Candy Hospital last week for what was described as a routine check-up.
For the last few months, Mr Deshmukh has been taking light assignments to avoid strain on account of his health condition, a Congress official said.
According to the hospital official, nobody, other than the attending doctors, para-medical personnel and relatives are allowed inside the suite located on the first floor of the hospital.
