Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has suspended senior police officer Jaffar Sait whose house was raided by the vigilance department last week.
Jaffar was the intelligence chief during the DMK regime and is presently posted as the special officer at the Sri Lankan refugee camp at Mandapam.
The raids followed a complaint that the officer had suppressed information while applying for a plot under the government discretionary quota and that he had entered into an agreement with a construction company for developing the property to make profit.
Raids were also conducted last week at the residence of Rajamanickam, Secretary to former chief minister Karunanidhi. Residences of Karunanidhi's security officers Pandian, Vinothan and Ganesan are also under the scanner.
