Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today urged Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to give the state an opportunity to display its tableau in the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.
The presence of a tableau from Assam in the Republic Day parade will help enhance the sense of patriotism amongst the people and instill a feeling of nationalism amongst the misguided youth of the state, Mr Gogoi said in a letter to Mr Parrikar today.
Mr Gogoi welcomed the decision of the Centre's Expert Committee for Selection of Tableau for shortlisting the design showcasing Bihu dance and wished that it would be finalised too.
