Panaji: Tehelka founder editor Tarun Tejpal, currently in jail on charges of raping a colleague, moved a plea before the court today to permit him to visit his ailing mother who is in a hospital in Goa.
The application, along with attached copies of Tejpal's mother's medical certificates, was submitted before the Additional Sessions Judge.
He said that his mother Shakuntala Tejpal suffers from brain tumour and is in the last stages of her life.
She is admitted in an intensive care unit of a hospital in Mapusa town, 50 km away from the Sada sub-jail, where he is currently lodged, his application said.
Tejpal pleaded for court directives to the jail superintendent, to take him to meet his mother in hospital.
