New Delhi: The Supreme Court today extended the interim bail of senior journalist Tarun Tejpal till June 27.

The court had on May 19 granted Mr Tejpal interim bail for three weeks to attend his mother's funeral and perform her last rites.

But Mr Tejpal could not attend the funeral reportedly due to the delay in the completion of bail formalities.

The court today reprimanded Goa police over the red-tape that had forced Mr Tejpal to miss his mother's funeral.

Mr Tejpal was represented in the Supreme Court by former union minister Salman Khurshid.

The Tehelka founder-editor had been lodged in Sada sub-jail in Goa's Vasco town since November 30, 2013, when he was arrested on charges of rape and sexual harassment.

Mr Tejpal had been booked for allegedly raping his woman colleague during an event in the state. He was arrested after his anticipatory bail was rejected by a local court.
