Hyderabad: The Budget Session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly started offpeacefully on Monday as Telugu Desam Party kept off Parliament. Butpro-Telangana MLAs are on protest for a separate statehood.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker has accepted the resignation of 12 MLAswho resigned on Sunday on the Telangana issue. This includes 10 Telangana Rashtriya Samiti,one BJP and one TDP.
The legislators had said they resigned in order tomount pressure on the Centre to take immediate steps for formation of aseparate state.
The 45-day session, of which the working days will be 31, will begin with an address by state Governor E S L Narasimhan to a joint sitting of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly.
While the Assembly will sit for its regular business from Tuesday, the Council is likely to be adjourned for a day on February 16 due to the death of its sitting member M Lakshmidevamma.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the Budget for 2010-11 on February 20.
The Winter Session of the state legislature was abruptly adjourned sine die following the imbroglio over the separate Telangana state demand with members belonging to both regions submitting their resignations.
Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for Telangana has demanded the Centre moves quickly to set the process for separate statehood for the new state.
The JAC also asked the public representatives in the region to resign in support of the separate state demand by Monday, failing which it would mount pressure on them through various means.
