In the police complaint, the student's family has claimed that the scale hit the child so hard that he fainted.
Howrah:
A teacher at a private school in West Bengal has reportedly been arrested for allegedly hitting a Class 8 student with an iron scale.
The incident happened in Howrah district, 15 kilometres from state capital Kolkata. The student's family has alleged that on Thursday, as the child was borrowing a pen from his classmate, his Hindi teacher threw an iron scale at him from a distance and rebuked him for talking in his class.
The family claims that the scale hit the child so hard that he fainted. After informing his family, the school authorities reportedly rushed the child to a hospital. The student was discharged the same day after being administered first aid.
The next morning, the student's father lodged a police complaint, following which the teacher was arrested.
The family says the boy is too afraid and traumatised to go to his school now.
The incident comes days after a three-year-old boy was assaulted in his home in Kolkata by a woman tutor. Security cameras installed in the apartment showed the teacher hitting the child repeatedly.
