Hisar:
Team Anna today launched a blistering attack on the Congress ahead of the October 13 Lok Sabha bypoll here, asking voters to inflict a "historic" defeat on the party for not bringing the Jan Lokpal Bill, prompting the ruling party to hit back.
Addressing public meetings, activists Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia also refuted the charge that Team Anna has any links with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Kejriwal said Hazare twice sat on a fast for the Jan Lokpal Bill but the Congress-led UPA government was yet to bring it in Parliament.
"You will have to inflict a historic defeat on the Congress. If you defeat the party (in the bypoll), this will be Anna's victory," he told the gathering.
Lashing out at Team Anna for asking people to vote against Congress, senior party leader Digvijay Singh said, "If Anna Hazare wants to get into politics, he should form his own party".
Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury said Team Anna had made its political intentions clear by attacking only her party and said they should come out in the open instead of trying to "subvert democracy".
She said Team Anna had agreed to wait for the winter session of Parliament for the Lokapal Bill but now had suddenly changed its stand.
Team Anna member Kiran bedi said it is a "wake up" call for the government which has been "dilly-dallying" for a long time on the issue.
Alleging that the Congress and corruption were synonymous, Kejriwal asked people to defeat corrupt forces.
Kejriwal claimed that Congress was afraid to bring the Jan Lokpal Bill as it fears "half of its own Ministers will land up in jail".
He said if the bill is not passed soon, Team Anna would intensify its campaign against the Congress in the five poll-bound states including Uttar Pradesh.
Referring to the RSS chief's remarks that Sangh volunteers took part in Hazare's movement, Kejriwal said those trying to seek credit should do so for Gujarat riots and corruption that rocked the Karnataka Government under the BJP Chief Minister.
