New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sought a scientific solution to increase crop yield while taking into account the shrinking land and water resources in the country.

"I have said - per drop, more crops. We must also think about - an inch of land and a bunch of crops," he said addressing scientists on the occasion of the platinum jubilee of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research or CSIR.

Praising the work of CSIR scientists over the years, the Prime Minister said that 21st century belonged to technological innovations and all of India's requirements could be met through scientific solutions.

"It is important to connect science with the common citizens in this century which is driven by technology," he said.

"It is a matter of pride for every Indian that CSIR is celebrating 75th year of committed contribution to the development of modern India. You have contributed so much to India in the last 75 years and am sure you can contribute so much more in the years to come," he added.

He said the CSIR needs to create an ease of doing technology business platform.

"CSIR needs to create 'Ease of doing Technology Business' platform to bring in right stakeholders so technologies reach beneficiaries," the Prime Minister said.
