A teenage girl was set on fire, allegedly by a man who tried to rape her, in Pratapgarh district of Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The girl has alleged that her neighbour tried to rape her last evening when she was alone in her house. When she resisted, he allegedly doused her with kerosene and set her ablaze.
The girl has suffered 95 per cent burns and doctors treating her at Pratapgarh district hospital have said her chances of survival are slim. They have referred her to the Swarup Rani hospital in Allahabad for further treatment.
The police registered a First Information Report today after the local media highlighted the incident. They are yet to arrest the accused.
