A tehsildar (revenue officer) and six other officers were allegedly manhandled and threatened by a sand mafia after they caught trucks transporting sand mined illegally in Virar in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Thursday morning. Two people have been arrested.
The incident took place when the trucks were being taken to a police station in Virar at 7:30 am. The trucks were stopped by a mob of around 20 people after it reached the Bhamatpada village.
