Telangana panel to hear TRS delegation on Saturday

New Delhi: Justice B N Srikrishna Committee on Telangana will kick-off its consultation process on the statehood issue with political parties on Saturday when it would hear a delegation from the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti headed by its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao here.

The five-member Committee for Consultations on the Situation in Andhra Pradesh headed by Justice B N Srikrishna will hear the views of TRS which vociferously supports formation of a separate state of Telangana.

"Though we have given a specific time to the party, we are even ready to devote the whole day for them as we want to hear views of political parties fully," the panel's Member-Secretary Vinod K Duggal told reporters here.

"All committee members would be present and we would give a patient hearing. All issues can be discussed," he said.

The committee will also meet representatives from TDP, CPI, CPI-M and IUML in Hyderabad on April 23 and 23, Duggal said.

Rao, who arrived here on Tuesday, will meet the delegation with a number of experts and intellectuals who are well-versed with the Telangana issue. Rao will also be accompanied by his senior party leaders.

Duggal said the committee has not received any representation from the BJP and would include the party's views in the January 5 meeting as its official response in the final report.

He also said he was expecting reports from MIM and Congress by this week.

Srikrishna had last week said the panel has enough material to analyse on various issues with respect to the statehood demand as it has received over 60,000 representations from across Andhra Pradesh.
