Hyderabad:
A day after its leader K Chandrashekhar Rao was shifted to the ICU at a hospital in Hyderabad, the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) has called for a two-day bandh in the region.
Rao has been on a fast-unto-death for the last seven days demanding a separate Telangana state. Today is the eighth day of his fast.
Rao has said he will not call off fast until he receives assurance from the Prime Minister.
TRS leader E Rajaendra has said that the bandh, which will continue through Sunday and Monday, is to support the fast launched by Rao.
Meanwhile, the state authorities have deployed additional pickets of police personnel in sensitive areas in the wake of the bandh call by TRS.
