Telangana supporters hail Centre's decision
Hyderabad: Celebrations broke out in Hyderabad on Wednesday night moments after the Centre conceded to demands for a separate Telangana state carved out of Andhra Pradesh and made an announcement in this regard in New Delhi.

Supporters of Telangana took to the streets to celebrate the news and many of them flocked to the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here where TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao was kept under observation after he began a fast-unto-death for a separate state. Rao has ended his 11-day fast now.

Slogans like 'Hail KCR, hail Telangana' filled the air as the supporters marched towards NIMS dancing, singing and bursting crackers.

Senior TRS leaders are expecting Chief Minister Rosaiah to come over to formally inform Rao about the latest development.

The Centre's decision was taken at a late night meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah after two rounds of consultations in the Congress Core Committee with Sonia Gandhi and senior cabinet colleagues.

"After these consultations, I am making this statement. The process of forming the state of Telangana will be initiated. An appropriate resolution will be moved in the state Assembly," Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters late in the night in New Delhi.
