Satna, Madhya Pradesh: Ten people have been killed and over 60 injured in a stampede at a temple in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.
The stampede took place at about 6 am today, as devotees crowded the Kamtanath temple in Chitrakoot for a festival called the Somvati Amavasya.
"Some of the pilgrims who were walking fell on the ground and this triggered panic," senior police officer Pawan Srivastava was quoted as saying.

District officials fear the number of dead and injured could rise and said five of those killed were women.
A compensation of two lakh rupees has been announced for the family of the dead and 50,000 rupees for those seriously injured. People with minor injuries will be paid an ex-gratia relief of 10,000 rupees.
