Patna: At least ten people are feared dead and many are injured, seven of them serioulsy, in a stampede that took place during a ceremony at a Durga temple in Bihar's Banka district on the occasion of 'Navratri' festival.
Around 30,000 devotees had gathered to offer prayers at the temple at Tildiha village.
"Ten deaths have been confirmed so far," district magistrate Aadesh Chitarmare said.
There are reports that there was a commotion following which people started running, and trampling each other.
The injured are being treated at hospitals in Tarapur and Banka.
