Finally a date for what will be one of the most closely-watched cases - the 26/11 trial. Ten days from now, Ajmal Qasab, the lone terrorist caught in the attacks, will appear in the special court to be set up for the purpose.
April 15 is the historic day when the 26/11 case will finally go to trial. By then the high security courtroom at Arthur Road Jail is expected to be ready. Facing the music will be Qasab.
On Monday, a smiling Qasab appeared in court through videoconferencing from Arthur Road Jail.
Judge Tahiliyani asked Qasab to give his copy of the chargesheet to his lawyer. And then when Qasab asked if he could meet his lawyer, the judge said yes, in the court. And then Qasab said: Inshaallaah.
Qasab's state-appointed legal team will only get to meet him on April 15. His defence strategy will be drawn up after they get copies of the chargesheet.
Ajmal Amir Qasab - will he plead guilty and reveal the names of the Pakistani handlers who hatched this plan to attack Mumbai? Or will he plead not guilty and want his lawyers to defend him? On April 15, we'll get to know that.
