Terror-hit Pune learns its lessons

Pune: For the Pune police, investigating the blast is just one side of the story; the other side is reaching out to a city shaken by its first ever terror attack.

Pune's Police Commissioner, Satypal Singh, is reaching out to the city's over 4 lakh students in an attempt to raise awareness on terror among the city's largest floating population.

The Commissioner and top police officers are even doing the rounds of the city's colleges, hoping to put the shock from the German Bakery blast to some positive use.

"We want them to be alert all the time and inform us if they find anyone suspicious. It's a big group that we want to take along," Singh said.

Just in the last three days, top cops have met with over 45,000 students from 70 colleges across the city. And their message seems to be getting through.

"Yes after hearing the Commissioner we feel that we could also be of help," said a student.

After colleges, the police will turn its attention to the IT sector - a potential terror target. All in the hope that Pune will pay heed and join the watch against another terror.
