Guwahati : Union Home Minister P Chidambaram will visit Assam to review the law and order situation after Bodo terror outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) killed 22 civilians. Targeting Hindi speaking people, the outfit has now issued fresh threats asking the government to learn its lesson.
"Government should learn from the incidents, actions, serial blasts," states NDFB's latest release to the media. It adds that "Indians living in Bodo areas should be careful or face horrible consequences."
"The statement that they have issued is really very threatening," said Pallav Bhattacharya, IGP, Assam Police.
The Bodo terror outfit had issued a similar threat last week of killing civilians in retaliation to encounters by security forces. The government had ignored the threat as posturing. On Monday the outfit killed 22 civilians.
"They also have brothers, sisters, mothers and everyone has the right to life so we are appealing to them to let us live," said Ajit, Belsiri resident.
Despite further threats operations against the NDFB has in fact, been intensified.
"For us the job is already cut out about what we are supposed to do in the face of such a situation," said Pallav Bhattacharya.
Meanwhile, Anjali and Manoj orphaned by Monday evening's serial killing, are still trying to come to terms with what they witnessed. Their parents and grandfather were shot dead infront of them.
They are now with their relatives in a nearby tea garden but after the last rites are performed they will be taken to their ancestral house in Bihar's Ara district.
"They have lost their parents so where will they go, they must be with us," said Satinder Thakur, uncle.
