Raigarh: Police have launched a massive manhunt after a terror suspect escaped from police custody by jumping off a moving train in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district.
Sheikh Abdul Naeem, a suspected operative of Pakistan-based Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami jumped off the Howrah-Mumbai Superfast Mail between Kharsiya and Shakti railway stations early this morning, Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police, Praphulla Thakur said.
Naeem was lodged in Kolkata's Dumdum jail.
He was being taken to Mumbai under a protection warrant for a court hearing on August 25.
Kolkata police has informed Government Railway Police (GRP) at Raipur about the incident following which a massive search has been launched to nab Naeem.
