Security has been tightened in the area following the attack.
Srinagar:
A civilian in a wheelchair was killed along with a policeman when terrorists attacked a police post at a Sufi shrine in Kashmir's Sopore, around 52 km from Srinagar.
The police say the two terrorists came on a motorbike and opened fire at the post. A guard, Fayaz Ahmad, was critically injured and a person in a wheel chair outside the shrine was also hit in the indiscriminate firing. Both died on the way to hospital.
After the attack, militants ran away with the INSAS rifle of the cop. This is the first militant attack in the area after a series of civilian killings by terrorists in May and June.
Police sources say after South Kashmir, where a large number of young and educated boys have joined militancy, there are concerns about the resurgence of militancy in North Kashmir as well.
