Srinagar: A group of terrorists today attacked policemen guarding a minority picket in South Kashmir's Pulwama district and escaped after snatching two AK-47 rifles, police said.
Senior police officials rushed to the Tumlahaal village in Lassipora area of Pulwama. A departmental inquiry would also be ordered to ascertain the details of the incident, said a police official.
In a similar attack yesterday, a policeman was killed and two people were injured after terrorists opened fire at a police post in Shopian district of South Kashmir. The attackers later escaped with police rifles.
Over the last one month, terrorists have attacked several police posts in south Kashmir and escaped with at least 20 rifles.
Kashmir has been gripped by unrest and incidents of violence have increased since the killing of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani in July. Over 80 people have died and more than 10,000 have been injured in clashes between protesters and security forces in the valley.
After over 11 weeks, a curfew imposed across Kashmir to curb clashes between protesters and security forces ended last month.
