Thane : An 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped after being dragged to an isolated area by an unidentified man in Dombivli area of Thane district on the outskirts of Mumbai. A case of rape has been registered at the Manpada Police Station.
At around 9:30 pm on Thursday, the college student, who teaches computers at a local institute, was on her way back home when she was dragged into a bush by the accused in an isolated area and raped. She was held captive for nearly two hours.
She was released after being threatened by the accused. She went home and told her parents about the incident following which they approached the police to lodge a complaint.
Polices sources say that a list of suspects has been drawn based on the description of the accused provided by the girl. Some of the suspects have been questioned, however, no arrests have been made in the case so far.
The police suspect that the accused could be someone who had been keeping track of her. They are also asking information from locals on any unidentified person they might have noticed in the area.
