Some things don't change while there are others that get a new look with time; like the cracker wrappers, which traditionally carried pictures of film stars and politicians. Now they are into an international look with new age themes, that include T20, even Chandrayaan.
This time when at the cracker shops in Chennai, the brand ambassadors seem totally replaced.
"Earlier the packets used sexy pictures of actresses. Now there's nothing of that kind. It's all graphics," said V Kesawan, proprietor, Nayagi fireworks.
Like everything else in Brand India, Diwali crackers too want an international look. So not only are the packs charged with graphics, also product information till now quite absent.
"Graphics have become too good nowadays. And no our sale has not been affected due to lack of pictures of film stars," said Syed, S K Abbas Stores.
There are many cotemporary themes among them - T20, a tribute to A R Rahman's Oscar, even one to out PSLV that carried Chandrayaan.
