Hardoi: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today said there should be no "politics" in the name of water, even as some areas in the state are reeling under drought.

"It is a duty to provide water to everyone. In our country there was a tradition to keep water even for animals and birds. There should not be any politics in the name of water," Mr Naik said on the sidelines of a programme at Subhash Chandra Bose Inter College Jalihapur in Madhoganj.

Meanwhile, on the controversy of him taking offence to certain comments by senior minister Azam Khan, the Governor said, "Everyone knows about it after his comments in the Assembly against me were removed from the proceedings."
