Mumbai: For most people, Bollywood superstar Anushka Sharma stopping her car to talk to them would be dream come true. But for this man, being driven around in what looks like a luxury sedan, it was exactly the opposite.
The man in question had just tossed a plastic wrapper out on the road from his car's window. Little did he know, it would draw the attention of Anuskha Sharma, who happened to be in an SUV next to them.
She rolled down her window, and then gave him a piece of her mind.
"Why are you throwing garbage on the road," she asks, irate.
With the man taken aback, Anushka Sharma, 30, can be heard telling him, "Please be careful, you can't just throw plastic around on the streets."
A video of this encounter is now going viral on social media. And it was shared on Instagram and Twitter by none other than her husband and captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli.
Along with the video, Virat Kohli wrote, "Saw these people throwing garbage on the road and pulled them up rightfully. Travelling in a luxury car and brains gone for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right! If you see something wrong happening like this, do the same and spread awareness."
Celebrities like Karan Johar retweeted the video, saying "This is the order of the day!! Well done @AnushkaSharma !!"
However, there were some sharp reactions to the video, with many poking fun at the 29-year-old India captain.
In response, he wrote: "Lot of people who don't have the courage to do something like this find it funny. Everything for people nowadays is meme content. Shame."
Anushka Sharma was earlier associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. In 2017, she was named as the face of a countrywide campaign to clean the streets, roads and for the infrastructural development of the country.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched in October 2014 by the Narendra Modi-led government to make people aware about the advantages of cleanliness.
