AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal speaking at a farmers' rally in Delhi against the Centre'sland bill.
New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal addressed a farmers' rally in Delhi, where he attacked the Centre for its land acquisition bill.
Here are the highlights of what he said:
- A year ago, the people of India voted for the Modi government with a lot of hope and trust.
- I am sad that he (unidentified man) climbed the tree in front of us but nobody tried to stop him. We will go to the hospital to see him.
- What has happened in one year is that farmers feel the Narendra Modi government is against them.
- Why was there a need for an ordinance on the land bill? Ordinances are meant for emergencies. What was the emergency?
- If a project was stalled, let the government tell the country and the whole country will support them.
- This ordinance has been brought in for super ameer (rich) people.
- We need to ask farmers why they want to sell their land.
- Will not let land to be taken away from farmers in Delhi without their consent.
- Farmers are suffering due to unseasonal rain.
- AAP government is the only government which has compensated the farmers at the rate of Rs 50,000 per hectare.
- AAP will unite the farmers of India on 3 issues - land will not be taken without consent, 50 per cent profit and adequate compensation for farmers.
- Need of the hour is that all the farmers of the nation should come together. They should demand fair compensation.
