Three Congress MLAs join Jagan's yatra

Hyderabad: Jaganmohan Reddy's tour in East Godavari district got a fillip with three Congress MLAs joining his yatra.

This comes even as parleys are on in the Congress to carve out a compromise formula to give the MLAs official sanction to be seen with Jagan.

Earlier on Sunday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah's comment to NDTV, finding fault with Jaganmohan Reddy's methods to get the CM's post, had provoked a sharp reaction from YSR's son.

"Mr Rosaiah reportedly said that I am in a hurry to become the CM. I am asking you, am I here to console or to ask for CM's post? In my tour, you would have noticed, no MLA or MP accompanied me but their hearts are with me. On my right side is the MP's husband and to my left is the MLA's brother,'' YS Jaganmohan Reddy had said. But this changed the moment Jagan's yatra stepped into East Godavari district on Monday. Three Congress MLAs decided to show where their loyalties lie, by joining Jagan on his tour.

"YSR is the main reason I got elected as an MLA. I am grateful for that. So even if lose this post, I will participate in the tour,'' said R.Varaprasad, a pro-Jagan Congress MLA.

Hectic backchannel talks have been on since Sunday to ensure that Jagan tones down his anti-Rosaiah rhetoric and in return, pro-Jagan MLAs in East Godavari district could be allowed to take part in Jagan's tour, provided they confine themselves to accompanying Jagan only in their constituencies. All this is, of course, subject to the high command's approval.
