News that Tiger Memon had been arrested in Pakistan had cogs turning in the Indian media today, a month after Yakub Memon, his younger brother, was hanged for his role in the 1993 blasts in Mumbai.
Tiger Memon is the main accused in the deadly terror attack in which 257 people were killed. He is presumed to be in Pakistan after a stint in Dubai, where he first fled after the blasts.
Some reports on Pakistani media suggested that one of India's most wanted men had been arrested in Karachi. Many phone calls were made to confirm the news, until tweets from Pakistan quickly cleared the confusion.
Furqan was arrested on Wednesday during raids.
He is accused of harassing girls using fake Facebook accounts and threatening people in the name of the real Tiger Memon, who, along with another mastermind Dawood Ibrahim, is wanted by the Interpol and Indian authorities.
Tiger Memon, according to the Mumbai police, called his family in Mumbai on July 30, an hour before Yakub Memon's execution, and spoke to his mother, promising to avenge his brother's death.
