Mandla: A tigress was killed in the Soopkhar range of the famous Kanha Tiger Reserve in a suspected territorial fight with another feline, a forest official said today.

The carcass of the tigress, aged about seven-nine years, was spotted by the beat guard following which he informed the senior forest officials about it, Kanha Tiger Reserve's Field Director J S Chouhan said.

"Possibly, the tigress was killed by a male tiger in a territorial fight," he said and added that after she was killed, the carnivores completely ate her flesh.

However, the other parts like bone structure, nails, teeth and moustache hairs among others were found intact and after necessary examination, it was consigned to flames in the presence of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) and World Wide Fund (WWF) officials, he added.
