'Tenacious, Remarkable, Outstanding': PM's Praise For Ravi Kumar Dahiya On Olympic Silver

PM Narendra Modi today praised wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya.

PM Narendra Modi today praised wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya on winning Silver medal in Tokyo Olympic 2021.

"Ravi Kumar Dahiya is a remarkable wrestler! His fighting spirit and tenacity are outstanding," PM Modi tweeted.

"Congratulations to him for winning the Silver Medal at #Tokyo2020. India takes great pride in his accomplishments," added the Prime Minister.

PM Modi also spoke to Ravi Dahiya and his coach Anil Maan.

While congratulating Ravi Dahiya, PM Modi said that India is proud of him and that his success inspires the entire nation. He complemented Ravi Dahiya for his hard work and also said he looks forward to personally congratulating him on the 15th of August.

President Ram Nath Kovind also congratulated Mr Dahiya.

"India is proud of Ravi Dahiya for winning the wrestling Silver at Tokyo 2021," the President tweeted.

"You came back into bouts from very difficult situations and won them. Like a true champion, you demonstrated your inner strength too. Congratulations for the exemplary wins and bringing glory to India," he tweeted.

Earlier today, Ravi Kumar Dahiya made the nation proud by taking home the silver medal after narrowly losing 4:7 in the men's freestyle 57kg final to ROC's Zavur Uguev. Ravi Dahiya was trailing 2-4 after first period in the gold medal bout.

The Haryana government announced that Mr Dahiya will be given a class 1 category job and a piece of land at 50 per cent concession.

The wrestler will also be given Rs 4 crore reward money, as designated for silver medal winners, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced.
